E-mail Print PDF

It’s July already, Independence Day has come and gone and the days are getting shorter – while you might not be feeling the blues quite yet, November’s coming in a mere four months from now.

PICNIC

The 2nd Annual Midwest FurFest Summer Picnic is happening this weekend, Saturday, July 17, 2010 at  Prairie Springs Park in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin (just north of the IL/WI border)! The LAFF Softball game will be starting at 2pm (though come earlier if you wish to play), look for Appetizers to be passed around along with water and other treats.
This year, Takaza has challenged Gir Tygrin from Furry Connection North in a Hamburger cookoff and everyone there will get to vote on which burger is the best! For more information, please visit the LAFF calendar at http://www.catbox.com/cgi-bin/webcal/webcal.cgi?function=webmonth&cal=laffevent or see Duncan’s more in-detail post at http://www.catbox.com/laffcal/mffpicnic2010.txt.  While the event is itself free, please RSVP by Wednesday, July 14th – instructions are in the links above!

HOTEL

Hotel reservations continue to stream in to the Hyatt Regency O’Hare, and we’ve still got plenty of room!  If you’re still interested in attending MFF, and are worried about getting stuck in an overflow room, we still have a space for you in the main hotel!  If you are staying at the Hyatt, there’s a loyalty program available which offers discounts on rental cars and other travel perks.  For more information, please visit the Hyatt Gold Passport page at http://goldpassport.hyatt.com

We announced last time we were accepting suite requests (For more information, visit http://www.furfest.org/suites). Be sure to hurry as there are only a few suites left!

TRAVEL

Last newsletter, we pointed out some of the air and train line special discount codes that are available for use online.  If you’re looking for other travel arrangements, you may, however, want to sign up for some of the airline mailing lists, and they’ll notify you of travel specials as they happen.  Here are a couple of links to some of the major airlines waiting to give you the Blues!

-  Delta http://www.delta.com/planning_reservations/deals_offers/index.jsp (Also covers Northwest)
-  American Airlines http://www.aa.com/i18n/urls/email.jsp?anchorLocation=DirectURL&title=email

REGISTRATION

Haven’t registered yet?  Head to http://www.furfest.org/mff-online-store to get yourself all set up.  On September 30th, the discounted pre-registration rate will be going away, which means that you’ll be missing out on a 25% discount off at-the-door registration, and you’ll be able to go through one of the express lanes when you show up, saving you time and money.

As long as you register by the deadline, our basic membership is still just $30.  As always, if you’d like to be part of the group that really helps us make MFF possible, Sponsorships are $120 and our Shiny MFF-Raccoon-Recommended Sponsorships are $250. You’re welcome to pre-register at one of the higher levels, or you can upgrade at the door, we’re always happy for the help!

DEALER'S DEN

The Dealer’s Den is filling up fast, with more dealers than last year.  As always, we’ll have a mix of some new and some returning dealers; a list will be posted to our website soon.  If you’re interested in a table, you’d better move fast.  Our Dealer’s Den information is available at http://www.furfest.org/dealers.

VOLUNTEERING

MFF is currently looking for Con Suite, Info Desk, Logistics, and general volunteer staff. We're all volunteers at the convention and can always use your help! For helping out, you will be given a T-shirt and with working 10 hours, your membership to MFF 2011 will be Free! Email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Sincerely,
